Paul Kaplan represents clients in a broad range of litigation matters, with an emphasis on appellate matters. Mr. Kaplan has appeared extensively before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is co-editor of the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Georgia Appellate Practice Handbook and is a regular speaker at ICLE’s annual Georgia appellate practice seminar.

Mr. Kaplan has represented clients in hundreds of complex business disputes, product liability actions and all manner of tort claims. Mr. Kaplan has successfully represented clients large and small in matters involving defamation, open records, partnership disputes, technology licensing enforcement, franchise liability, message board liability and privacy rights.

Mr. Kaplan comes to FSB after 11 years as a litigator at Alston+Bird LLP, a 900-lawyer firm based in Atlanta with offices nationwide.

Mr. Kaplan earned his J.D. Cum Laude in 1998 from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the American Criminal Law Review. Mr. Kaplan also was a member of Georgetown’s Barristers Council and two mock trial teams and was named Georgetown’s Outstanding Trial Advocate as a second-year student.

Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Kaplan served as a press aide at The Carter Center in Atlanta. Mr. Kaplan earned his B.A. in political science, with high honors, from Emory University, where he was a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar. Mr. Kaplan also served as executive editor of The Emory Wheel and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Kaplan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
