Biography: Having worked both in-house at The Home Depot for seven years, as well as having worked at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, & Walker for eight years, Ms. Smith brings a diverse Employment Law expertise to FSB. She has vast experience in all aspects of employment law, including: Title VII; the Civil Rights Act of 1991; the Equal Pay Act; the Fair Labor Standards Act; the Family Medical Leave Act; the Americans with Disabilities Act; and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, as well as other state and federal laws governing the workplace. As a Senior Attorney for Home Depot, Ms. Smith's experience included: managing employment litigation and government agency complaints; providing employment law support for EEOC charges; conducting internal investigations, EEO training, and policy review; providing employment law support for various Human Resources initiatives; and advising Human Resources on various employment law matters. As an associate at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, & Walker, Ms. Smith's practice involved employment litigation, including class actions. Her litigation responsibilities included drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, written discovery, taking depositions, preparing witnesses, working with expert witnesses, trial preparation, and trial experience. Ms. Smith is licensed to practice law in Georgia and Texas. |
